Chelating agent able to bind metal ions and increase product stability. Also acts as co-preservative that enhances efficacy of preservatives and other antibacterial agent.
Disodium EDTA is commonly used in neutral to acidic products, like most creams, lotions, and neutral pH liquid soaps and shampoos while tetrasodium EDTA is used in alkaline products like black soap.
