Lactobionic acid provides benefits to skin beyond traditional AHAs as a result of its unique chemical structure and molecular composition. Due to its multiple hydroxyl groups, it is a strong humectant, with the ability to attract and retain water better than common humectants including glycerin and sorbitol.

Lactobionic acid is a type of PHA less irritating than AHAs; rather than causing sensitivity, it can enhance the skin barrier, thus making them suitable for sensitive skin types. It  also provides excellent antioxidant effects and found to be preventing photo-aging, making them a well-rounded great ingredient for the skin, and for all skin needs.
