Description

Sorbitan Oleate is a non-ionic, vegetable-based, PEG-free liquid emulsifier which is formed by the esterification of sorbitol (a sugar alcohol) with oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid) making it a monoester of oleic acid and hexitol anhydrides derived from sorbitol. HLB value 4.3 making it suitable for water-in-oil emulsions. It is can be used as a co-emulsifier in combination with high HLB emulsifiers for making stable water-in-oil creams and lotions.
It can be used to inculcate water based actives in ointments, balms, butters.
It act as a wetting and dispersing agent as well as aid in the mixing of water and oil.
Acts as an emulsifier, emollient, and skin-conditioning agent in creams, lotions, and serums. It helps evenly disperse mineral sunscreens (like zinc oxide) and color pigments.
It helps to stop the epidermis from drying out and losing water, which is what other strong detergents do, aking it a good addition to cleansing products.
